Photo Exhibit Examines Dogs’ Lives

Former “Life” photographer Elliott Erwitt captured dogs in everyday settings.

Former “Life” photographer Elliott Erwitt is well-known for his quirky and ironic images of everyday life. Now, thanks to “Elliott Erwitt: Dog Dogs,” fans will get to see the photographer’s humorous and insightful take on dogs.

The exhibit, at the Wachovia Gallery at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pa., beginning April 26, will include over 60 black-and-white photographs taken by the Erwitt around the world between 1946 and 2000.

“Elliott Erwitt is one of the real masters of 20th-century photography,” says Brian H. Peterson, senior curator at the Michener Art Museum. “His style is low-key and unobtrusive, but as you get to know his pictures you gradually begin to see their wit, insight and visual skill. We’re very excited to bring this work to the Michener — anyone who knows and loves both dogs and people will enjoy this show.”

The exhibit runs through Aug. 31. For more information or to see photos from the exhibit, visit www.michenermuseum.org
