Celebrities don’t realize how much power they hold… or do they? Ever notice how an A-list fashionista is pictured in a tabloid or glossy wearing a designer handbag one day, only to find that the next day hundreds of trendy hipsters are sporting that very same bag?

Designers have long taken note of this trend-setting phenomenon and have reached out to other arenas – namely, designer pooch fashion.

Dozens of celebrities turned out for the 4th Annual Silver Spoon Dog & Baby Buffet in Los Angeles on May 5, 2007.

Now you may ask yourself -- dog and baby buffet? No, this isn’t a dining experience in which you, your baby and dog grab a tray along a line to serve yourself delicious concoctions by world-renowned chefs. Rather, it’s a gift buffet of sorts where guests hop from booth to booth to pick up swag from hot designers, in this case doggie and baby fashions. Doggie bag, anyone?

The buffet -- hosted by The Silver Spoon founders Melissa Lemer and Lorena Bendinskas -- was held at the historic Wattles Mansion, a Spanish style 49-acre estate in the Hollywood Hills that features a Japanese garden, Italian rose garden, a formal Spanish garden and more.

It benefits The Center for Discovery, a nonprofit organization based in Harris, New York, that helps children and adults with significant disabilities and medical frailties. Each guest at the invite-only fete was asked to give a $20 donation to the nonprofit.

Bright balloons decorated the 40-plus white-tented booths that were positioned on a grassy knoll surrounding the estate’s lush gardens as hundreds of guests scattered across the buffet lines touting their teeny tiny pooches in baby slings and swanky styled leashes.

“Every year we choose the very best in baby and dog products to showcase at The Silver Spoon Dog & Baby Buffet,” Lemer said on the 70-degree breezy Southern California day.

Guests – who included dog lovers Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott of “Tori & Dean: Inn Love,” Rena Sofer of “24,” Kelly Hu of “In Case of Emergency,” Jason Priestley of “Side Order of Life,” Fred Savage of “Crumbs,” and Shannon Elisabeth of “Cuts” – picked up swag from hot doggie designers JPI Pets AKC Puppy, jewelry from Magic Dog, and collars from Mascot. Celebrity pups, including Hu’s dog Mushu, and Elizabeth’s dog Winnie, relaxed on luxurious beds and chaises from Pawniquely Yours, played with toys from Pet Peeve, picked up specially formulated shampoos and conditioner from Isle of Dogs, grabbed a pooper scooper from Skooperbox, and even got tarot card readings from Angelica’s Cards. Dozens of dogs satisfied their appetites at the Buffet by enjoying tasty treats from Dogswell and Castor & Pollux Pet Works dog food, as well as other fun and fabulous gifts.

Silver Spoon Entertainment Marketing is a firm known for hosting events that set the trends in Hollywood during award season. At Silver Spoon events, celebrities are treated to pre-award show pampering with free gifts from hot designers, jewelers and cosmetic and skin-care lines.

Love the article and LOVED the event!! The celebrities are Going Green--and this is good news for all of us. Once they get into something, then everyone follows. The Planet needs this. Celebrities as well as they're children totally cozied up to Green products like Skooperbox — This product is sooo awesome!

It’s about time someone got it together on the poop scoop scene! Both Shannon Elizabeth and Melanie Paxson used the Skooperbox at the event to applause all around!

The great thing about this new poop scoop is that it is made out of 100% Recycled Material AND it is 100% Biodegradable!

Keep up the great work ladies!
