Anita Phoenix, AZ 5/30/2009 2:13:39 PM Hi: Wendy, will be turning 15 years old on June 4th. I always make sure that she chooses what she wants to do, and I get her involved in gatherings and outings, which she enjoy, because she has her stroller where she is very comfortable when going out of the house. I like to take her to the mall, where people come to her to say hi, and pet her. She enjoys that. We are bonded;therfore, she lets me know what she wants and needs, and I am happy to please her, and make her enjoy her senior years as much as possible. Thank you Dog Fancy for the opportunity to share my experience with my lovely senior doggie, Wendy, with the audience. Blessings!
Marla Tampa, FL 6/27/2007 8:13:33 AM I definitely believe in 'canine brainpower'. Mentally stimulating your dog also helps discourage bad behavior like chewing on shoes, etc. When a dog is mentally sharp they are less likely to become bored which leads to behavior that frustrates their owners. Hide and seek is a good way to mentally stimulate your dog, too. Also you can purchase treat puzzles that make your dog think in order to figure out how to get the rewards hidden inside.
