I am trying to find out if anyone knows why many dogs walk in a circle in their bed or wherever they are going to sleep before they lay down!

My dachuhsund is constantly humping the pillows on the sofa. He will be one year old on September 3rd. I don't know how to stop him without making him feel bad. This is embarrassing in front of the children and guests. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

my dog will sniff other dogs and then poke them with her snout. She has done this to us too. What does it mean?? She is a 7yr. old Bernese that we recently rescued.

I have a 11 month old chocolate lab. She is always getting in trouble, jumps up with two paws on kitchen counters, takes magazines, shoes, slippers. She comes to you after 2 - 3 commands then will drop it, and barks at you like she is talking bace at you and when you turn around she jumps up behind you and tries to bite you..not to hurt you but to show you she is mad. I am not liking her right now. She will not stay out in the yard, she jumps on the sliding door or the sliding sceen to come in. Please tell me what I can do to make my lab an enjoyable pet. We had 2 dogs in the last 30 years that were wonderful pets, what am I doing wrong!!! I am not liking her right now. I so want to enjoy my lab but I become very frustated with here actions!! DOG WHISPERER...where are you!!!

knowing what is typical behavior of a breed before getting the dog 'just because' is so very important! Had a friend who wanted a Jack Russell but didn't realize it's a very active high maintenance animal that became a house eating dog since they work long shifts! Dog is now happy in a new home with lots of kids and action!

I agree that so many people are baffled and seem ignorant about dog behavior. Yet they own or breed dogs? My family and in-laws know that my husband and I have trained our dogs to bark at the door when someone is in the yard because I am deasf. They are very protective of me. We have explained to them several times that they have an instinct that they scence that when a person jumps out at me they thing they are going to attack me therefore they will either bark, bite or growl. Our family still does not understand this, and they continuosly jump out at our dogs and me telling us our dogs tried to bite the.

It is very easy to train a dog. In no way to I plan to get rid of my nanies over people who seem to be ignorant about deafness and dogs. I pray people will come to a stop with any form of abuse on dogs too. I disagree with breeding. There are so many dogs that need a home.

I enjoyed reading the article Why Dogs Do What They Do. I own a 5 year old Maltese named Prissy. She is a typical dog. They do on occasion do things that are not pleasant. People need to understand they are not people in small four-legged bodies. I have people ask me why Prissy rolls in everything foul outside and all I can say is that she's a dog, that is what they do.
