In controlling the bacteria content of my dogs gut and intestines, I do not give her foods with a high glycemic index. Such as carrots for example. I omit hard to digest Carbs, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes. Absolutely No Wheat products. Nothing, including kibble, with any chemical preservatives, nothing with any kind of flour in it what so ever. No junk food, no simple carbs, nothing with baking soda, baking powder or sugar in it. Including sugar alternatives. Never anything Corn, be it gluten or otherwise.

I keep my dog on a very strict but healthy diet. Thus why I cook for her because most commercial dog foods, even premium ones have at least one preservative usually, especially if the food contains a "fish meal" as well as usually some fillers. Do research. Know Exactly what Every ingredient is in your dog's food. If you don't, don't feed it to them. I searched for a long time to find a kibble, which she free feeds on, that met my approval. It is not easy but can be done. Good Nutrition, next to exercise and discipline, is the most important thing that you can provide for your dog, be it a Yorkie or otherwise.
