I have a 3-year-old black lab/border collie mix named Winnie who definitely has more collie than lab habits. For example, she loves to herd people; especially when we're hiking. She will run ahead on the trail then come back and circle around the entire group. Her high energy level makes her a perpetual puppy and keeps my husband and I endlessly entertained. She's also wicked smart! Even though she's well past being a puppy she is very teachable and willing to learn. But because she's so smart she also gets bored quickly so if she doesn't feel like learning something she won't. A good example of this is the fact that it took me five minutes to teach her to sit and wait for her food but four months to lay down on command. I've also recently learned that she makes an excellent mountain biking dog. Her lab side, however, makes her a water magnet. If there is a body of water nearby she will find it, take a swim, then drink until her little belly bulges. Winnie is a goofy dog but we love her to pieces.

I love border collies . I have one that is a little over 13 years of age . They are great pets . It is true that they do take their mouths and will grab at your hand if they see you doing some thing they are not ok with but its usally only when they are young adult dogs .By the time they are 13 years of age they dont usally do that . Its just to get your attention to stop what your doing . They never bite and never will if you dont train them to . They do go blind later in life . They also have issuse with dry skin so reglur bathing is a must . They shedd a lot as well and need to be brush almost every day Use shampoo for dry skin for a dog . They also need to be protected against heart worms . But they are well obent dogs once train whats expected of them . They will while still young run off if you get out of the habit of walking them . So walking daily is a must in order to avoid such behavor from them when their still young . They like to keep a ruteen that you have . They dont like it changed to much to offten or they get annoyed because it confusses them .

I LOVE BORDER COLLIES! I've had one in the past and now i'm getting a border collie puppy. If you have a big yard for them to run around in or play fetch, your border collie will thank you!

The article is fine but a check on a few minor
A border collie does not need to be groomed, as the more you groom the more they cast,so wait until tufts appear then gently tug out. Collies cast all year round. If you work always leave a few toys to play and/or leave tv/radio on
