Colleen South Pasadena, CA 8/15/2011 8:38:32 AM I've had 2 dobermans (male & female) from reputable breeders and enjoyed the beauty and grace of these smart and intelligent dogs. They both learned sign language easily, although neither they nor I are hearing impaired. I'm a speech pathologist and know this breed offers unlimited abilities---an interesting venture, no doubt!!

If buying the prospective owner should be prepared to invest a good amount of money in a good puppy from a good, caring breeder. A doberman is not, in any way, a "cheap" dog to purchase or care for, but they are worth it.
