Mary Tiburon, California 4/9/2013 8:20:23 PM My puppy had surgery to repair an umbilical hernia when he was spayed about six months ago. Now the hernia is back! How common is it to have one of these open up again?
Bret wichita, KS 10/24/2011 7:48:46 AM Well...look @ that!! This lady that is probably one of the 3 stupid drivers that hit my dog.. she still gets in her car and poses a threat to every dog or kid walking around!!!! Get a grip on yourself and start walking instead of driving your stupid soccer mom SUV... stupid.. I'd love to talk to you face to face...ho3
Mary Thousand Oaks, CA 9/7/2011 11:22:56 AM People! Get a grip on your selves. This is not the instructions on a package of noodles! Good greif! Would you expect your doctor to diagnos you over the phone without looking at you? Then why would you expect a vet to do so for your dog? Go find a 24 hour vet and pay the price, if you're so worried. This is ridiculous! My chi is in emergency surgury now. I was able to see that he needed it. His herniated sac had turned purple and was slightly bigger, but he lasted the Labor Day weekend till Tuesday morning, and no, he didn't feel like running around. And if you are wondering what it feels like and don't have one yourself, go get your apendix removed and see how that feels. Now try to ask intelligent questions. We don't want to hear how you let your neice play with your dog who just had surgery. That's on you.
douglas fresno, CA 12/15/2010 4:34:26 PM what are the after effects of a hernia surgery? can the female have pups naturely or normal?
bree new york, NY 8/20/2009 9:57:10 PM i have a shih tzu, she had a hernia when i bought her, i didn't know this at the time. when she went in to be fixed, a vet said she had a hernia. the next day the hernia is back, and is much worse, the stitches poped due to the hernia's size. i dont know what to do, vet is closed, it's too late. i hope she will be okay. i have kept her locked up so she cant run and jump and play. but my neice came over, and i am almost possitive she let her out. now i have to pay another vet fee, but my baby girl is worth it
Amy Portland, OR 7/21/2009 11:49:57 PM My 10 month old papillion was attacked by a Chow and had to have hernia surgery. I was told he cannot move very much for two weeks because it could reverse the surgery. I am so paranoid! His two dog bites had to be drained and so he is twisting around a lot because until the drains are removed he itches a lot...I'm so scared any movement could reverse the surgery. How soon am I in the clear where I don't have to be worried about the surgery being reversed? How often do these surgeries reverse themselves? Thank you!
Anonymous blahblah, ME 5/8/2009 7:41:21 PM Hello, I am looking for a puppy right now and I finally found the kind I want. Unfortunately, this puppy has umbilical hernia. Is this life threatening? Can this produce later health issues? Also, how much would the surgery cost for this hernia?
Dr Sanjay Purohit Gujarat, IN 2/2/2009 3:00:31 AM Umbilical hernia in canines are surgically repaired under general anaesthesia with much post-operative complications. However, hernioplasty is advocated if the hernial ring is too big
