I have 2 Rednose Pitts, 1 Rott, 1 Beagle, and a Walker coon Dog they all run free together on my 94 ackers.. My pitts Are Mother & Son pure breed I've had the Mother since she was 11 days old Oi had to bottle feed her when I got her & she came from a line of fighting dogs she is now 6yrs and she is the most loving dog u could ever find her and my 3yr grand Daughter roll around and play all the time. I believe it is all in the way the owners treat them as eo how any dog turns out they have Been given a bad Name gecause of the jerks that started Fighting the Breeds because of there Musculer Built But I am telling u the Dogs get a bad Rap Do to Idiots they are no diffrent from any other Dog

I believe pittbulls are very dangerous and should be banned immediately, especially in the city where apartments and homes are so close together, not only can they not be trusted but they never stop barking and attacking your own fence, they then damage it and owners dont take responsibility and dont care that they are very loud and never give you any peace. They have escaped and almost bit several children and the owners again refused to even apologize, they are a bomb waiting to happen

Pit bulls and other bully breeds are only dangerous if their owners let them be. I have a pit and she is sweet to humans. I think that if a dog is aggressive, it's the owners' fault.

I think it is great that cities in the United States are finally starting to recognize that the issue with dogs is the issue of the owner and not always the dog. I am an owner of two Pit Bull mixes, and it sadens me when people point the finger at the breed rather the owner who is responsible for training and maintaining good behavior of their animal. This goes for all breeds. Any breed of dog can be dangerous if allowed and trained to be dangerous.

I agree, working at a vet for 16 years I have been bit more by "mom's little darlings" than
Pits.
Pits are loving dogs and always gave us
kisses.
It's just the drug people and low class that trains them to be attack
dogs.
Put the owner in jail. Today the Pit's, what breed is going to be banned
tomorrow?
This is so stupid. I agree, all pet dogs should be altered, they make much better pets that way.

Dogs are aggressive because of how they are raised. A ban on specific breeds is ridiculous, I have met so called "mean" breeds that were more friendly than most people. I think anyone participating in dog fights should be in prison. It is apparently their aggression that needs to be addressed, it's not the dogs fault! People can pay fines and go on about their life, I say take some of their life away.

you shouldnt punish the dogs they dont do anything they just do as the owners tell them!! and its wrong!!!! i have a blue pit named echo and he's a BIG baby he's scared of his own shadow and i also have a rottweiler that barks at anything that moves and when he barks my pit runs to the porch and wants in he hates his leash he hates cars he's scared of everything!!!! he loves kids and people, when he jumps in the bed with me and my boyfriend he plops right in the middle and licks us both when we go walking he sees people and stops perks his ears up and stairs and when they get close he runs the other way!!! i think BSL is wrong, put the people that train these dogs down not the dogs!!

Excellent article!!! I'm so glad this is here to get the word out that it's not the dog or breed that's the problem, it's the owner. Pit Bulls get such a bad rap, and it isn't always
fair.

Punish the deed, not the breed! Thank you so much for this great article!

I so very much agree with that! Ban the deed not the breed. I have a pit bull. She is the best dog in the world. Its not the dogs fault the owner treats it badly or trains it to be mean and fight. Go after the jerks that make them that way!!!

The dogs are only dangerous when people make them that way. Dont punish the BREED, punish the DEED. I am the owner of a pit bull, and she is a love bug with everyone!!

If you ban pitbulls you should ban chihuahuas because there temperments are worse than pitbulls or any other kind of bully. Ask anyone that works at Petsmart or petco most of the bites come from "pocket dogs". Pitbulls are NOT naturally man bite unless raised that way just like any other dog. Yes pitbulls are dog aggressive but as you breed more passive pitbulls the passive genes dominates other genes. I have 10 pitbull terriers that i raised by hand and never have I or anyone has been bitten or growled at. www.youngjerseykennels.com Stop being prejudice and open your eyes to the big picture. Man peopl in high positions fron the early 70's to present has owned or owns a Bully breed

I wish all states would pass such a law. I have been atacked by a dangerous dog that keeps getting loose. This dog was after my Golden Retriever that was only a pup at the time. I now carry mace in my pocket when walking my dog on his leash. That dog just lives down the street from me.

I have read about the BSL and I was extremely shocked to think that some stupid legislation was taking away people's family members just because of their breed. People who train pits to fight should be the ones to be put to down. These dogs don't deserve this. Pit Bull Terriers are one of the most loving animals on earth, and even if they are trained to fight they definitely deserve the chance to be rehabilitated. My heart hurts immensely for these animals, and I wish everyone else hurt just as much.
