I have had to deal with this allot when my dog was younger until we found she has food hypersensitivity and food allergies. Even now I have to be very careful because it does not take much to have it flare up. I have found with my dog pumpkin is very effect diarrhea setting it down.

Can dogs be lactalose intorlerant. I give my 3yr. old yellow lab mix cottage cheese with his dry kibble sometimes. He has episodes of diarrhea, have taken samples of his stool 3x to have it checked for parasites-none found. This is the last rule out I can think of that may be the problem.

How can you promote brands such as Iams, Eukanuba, as being healthy for our dogs? They contain corn, animal by-products, salt, sometimes colorings, and many other ingredients that case problems. Yet they tout themselves as being the right thing to give your dog for health. Very misleading. I count on you to be more responsible.

both of our dogs have had diarrhea for a couple of days now. I have to take them out several times in the middle of the night and again in the morning. When we come home from work one or both have done something in the house (thank God for ceramic tile!)

Thinking it might be the food I gave them just rice this morning but still they have had the same problem. Help!

My dog just came home from surgery, after being under light anesthia. He was groggy as to be expexceted that day, and still somwhat the next; but that next night he suddenly became sick with diarrhea, a few times threw the night, and throwing up once. I believe one of the medications used was mentioned in the article which makes me feel somewhat more at ease as I wait for our vet to open.

I have a 3 year old Pure bred Airdale terrier, she had an emergancy surgery in Aug. to remove a large amount of intestine due to the fact that she had eaten a few items she should have not eaten. She now because of this has only had loose bowels since August. Any ideas on how to harden it up alittle at least to be able to clean it off the lawn?

What about the age of the dog? Does old age have anything to do with it? He is a 12 year old mixed lab. His diet hasn't changed. He doesnt get people food. He is not around any other animals, so diseases not so worried about.

Thank you. My service dog is the number two dog of valor with the United States Humane Society. The vet changed her food put her on thyroid and gave her all her shots in one day. My common sense told me it was all too fast. I have no money from SSI to eat on much less pay a vet who won't see a dog without pre-payment. I find your advice to be very pertinent and intend to follow it.

Thanks for the diet advice Lonna. I thought I adjusted new pups food slowly enough but alas, a rottie with intestinal issues in the wee hours of the morning is not fun! Will feed her some chicken and rice later this afternoon after her tummy has time to settle and I make sure she is hydrated enough!

Try a bland diet consisting of boiled chicken and white rice (be sure the chicken has no skin, contains no fat or spices). Feed small amounts 3-4 times a day or until you see improvement. If not improving consult your vet.
