This is destined to be one of those family stories that gets told over and over and generates good feelings for generations. I hope the dog wasn't uncomfortable during all this, especially the cleanup afterward, but I'm sure he or she is much loved and will be remembered with affection for endless patience and other wonderful qualities for a long, long time.
