I would think anybody feeding their dog this food should switch foods for a short while.Remember salmonella is mildly contagious between humans and animals. My prayers go out to all those who have lost their pets due to these never ending recalls.Thank you DC for the information.

I had purchaced Pedigree 20# bag small bites 23100 31478 and notice the recall of Pedigree Small Crunchy Bites Adult Nutrition 32 pounds, UPC # 0-23100-31483...as the numbers being so close could this bag be contaminated? I had one puppy gone sick and passed...have another sick.....

On Sept. 5 I rushed my service dog to the ER vet., symptoms were 104 temp, no appetite, and severe pain (flinching when touched/rigid abdomen/groaning when moving). Xrays, ultrasounds, blood work, urine screen turned up nothing. No better the next day and a trip to regular vet...still no diagnosis. No one thought to check for Salmonella......then the recall and I fed Pedigree! My dog suffered the pain for 3 days before he began to respond to antibiotics and improve. It was torture watching
him.
Unfortunately, I had thrown the bag away and no way to check the ID code. Gotta suspect it may well have been contaminated food.

I feed Pedigree but I will not be changing brands. They had this batch of food off to the side for testing and not for sell. But someone sent it off by accident. They put out a voluntary recall before hand. At least they are trying to right this wrong, way before the last recall.

In light of all of last year's recalls...why on EARTH haven't their been greater contamination prevention restrictions? ALL pet food should be safe to feed our pets, regardless of WHAT brand it is!!

We need strictor regulations on Pet Foods. If all this stuff recently does not help prove this I don;t know what else could!

I really wish they had a better way to check this stuff BEFORE it gets out to the stores. Too many animals are getting sick from contaminated foods.

More people need to educate themselves on dog food and ingredients. Steer clear of those commercial-gimmick-based-highly-advertised-cheap-p- oor-quality dog food brands. If the main focus is profits, the animal will suffer in the long run.

This doesn't sound good. I hope they caught it in time.
