I think we need better legislation to protect our pets the AAFCO does a horrible job of regulating pet foods and Pet food companies are not monitoring the ingredients they are buying from other companies. The cancer rate in dogs has literally tripled over the past decade a lot of which is starting to be attributed to the food they eat. There is still ethoxiquin in Cat food but they now call it a Mixed Tocepherols If pet food companies, even the supposed healthy or natural lines would take more time producing better foods and spend less time trying to hide their ingredients on the labels it would be appreciated. If they tried to pull any of this with baby food there would be uproar and I think our pets deserve the same consideration

I am always reading the labels on pet food and pet treats, and am amazed at all these so-called GOOD foods that have by-products in them! We have to be very careful on what we are giving our pets.

I think there should be a law against pet food with by-products and glutens.

I read labels and there are a lot of confusing items in pet food. I make sure the first ingrediant is chicken.

Thanks for the article... it is so true! Pet owners need to educate themselves on what their pets are eating. I think most people honestly don't know how to read a dog food label.

Huh! So NOT me! I ALWAYS, before every purchase read the WHOLE ingredient list!!! This is very important to me, and as a matter a fact I am starting to feed my female Shiloh only raw food and my male Shiloh half kibble and half raw!

I always look at what is in my dogs food. I have also started making my own food, just so I know its got the good ingredients in it.
