Although I love my dog and would obviously be very upset if something happened to her, I certainly wouldn't want a clone of her! It's unnatural, and if I had a dog who had her genes and looked exactly like her but wasn't even related to her I actually think it would be kind of

I don't think pets should be cloned for the enjoyment of their owners, I think it should only be used to say, bring certain extinct animals, like the Tasmanian Tiger or something else that we hunted to extinction, back. Science should not be taken for granted.

I can understand the love for Lancelot and wanting to have him back or have a clone of him. These people obviously do not have to be concerned about money like the rest of us. I saw the puppy with them during a TV interview, and Lancelot Encore is an absolutely beautiful Lab. He looked to have great conformation, etc., so his genes would be good to pass on. It does seem selfish in a way, to spend so much money on a clone when there are millions of wonderful, loving dogs who are euthanized every year in shelters. I'm sure the shelter in their town would have loved a donation of over $154K! Think what they could have done with that.....

They should be embarassed. They could have adopted an equally cute dog from their pound and donated the remaining >$154,900 to a charity of their choice.
