I am glad they are getting a dog. I do hope that the child was tested to make sure she has an allergy towards a dog. My doctor told me to get rid of my dog and cat because I had an allergy to them. I had the test and I had an allergy to mold not dog or cats.

If the Obama's really wanted to show a little pride in the Nation they'd look at an American Water Spaniel. My family has dog allergies and I've found the American Water Spaniel does not induce my allergies. Also there is the Boykin Spaniel or Rescue a Louisana Catahoula (save the dog from a Heart Stick). We seem to have not problem rescuing millionairs how about a dog from a death sentance.

I'm really happy that they aren't getting a labradoodle.... they're great and all, but it's just contributing to the unwanted mixed breeds in America.

I bet the Obama's are very happy with their choice. Portugese Water Dogs don't seem that common in America.
