I agree 100% with Karen from Joplin, MO. Getting a dog is a personal decision and is not subject to the opinion of people that have nothing to do with the outcomes of the decision. People need to take responsibility for their own pets and have them spayed/neutered. Finally, I do not think Obama's decision to get a purebred v. a shelter dog was ever promised as part of his campaign.

Shelter dogs are fine, but they are not always the best choice for a family. Getting a dog is a personal decision and it really is and should be noe one else's business. If people dealt with their own mistakes in getting dogs and not neutering or spaying there would not be dogs in shelters. The Obama's are not going to cure that problem and the people who take dogs to the shelter or breed unwanted litters should be personally responsible, not the Obamas. We need stronger spay/neuter laws in this country and policies that enforce them.

They should of done the right thing and adopted a dog from a shelter, there are plenty that needs a good home. Oprah
did.
This dog is going to be a lot of work and will keep the girls busy.

Just another broken campaign promise. A donation can't buy your way out. There are plenty of allergy friendly dogs that need a good home in the shelters.

Just one more thing to add to the list of what I do not like about Obama. Had they rescued a shelter dog as was promised, the entire country would have seen just how great a shelter dog is and that they are not disgusting disposable
animals!!
I do not expect him to change the world or bring new hope, but I HAD hoped he would do the RIGHT thing and rescue a needy dog from a
shelter.
Shame on them.
