It is good sense, considering that H1N1 has been confirmed in a domestic cat (this isn't a surprise, since our pets can catch the flu from us). Perhaps this isn't the "novel" strain indicated above, but linked

They are NOT overdoing it. People at my school came down with it this week and the CDC has closed campus. Just because it isn't in your area does not mean alerting the public is "overdoing it!"

That is good. I would not want my pets getting sick from it. Since last time I checked no reports of the Swine Flu have been reported in FL. I wish it could stop spreading once and for all.
