We see a lot of cats that have "Frontline alopecia", as I like to call it. With the cheaper pyrethrin products, we usually see boils, scabs, etc.

You do get what you pay for, but nothing is perfect.

i agree. They need some attention. My vet says not to let our pets or children play with each other until they are dry from the product.

I have never had a problem with my dogs and cats with flea medicine, but I have heard of other people having problems. I do not get the cheaper products because of this.

Just to be safe, I only buy my flea and tick products from the vet.

I once had a problem with some flea and tick medicine I bought at Walmart. My dog (who I put it on) had no problem with it, but one of my 2 cats got extremely ill just from being near the dog! We washed the dog twice and threw away his bedding (my cat sometimes would sleep in the dogs bed) and she came out of it okay. Now, I only by flea products from the vet!

my dog just had an allergic reaction to sargents gold flea/tick med. that i picked up at a very local grocery store. he is fine but i did have to take him to the vet. emergency room. who goes to the grocery store thinking that the products that they sell are unsafe? tighter regulations and monitoring need to occur around flea/tick meds. - then again, maybe my experience with my dog was an 'isolated' incident.
