My wife and I are looking for "designer dogs" that come from two small breeds. We currently have a "Chin/Pin". She is a mix of a Chiuauah and Miniture Pinscher. We really love her. We only have two problems with her at this time. One, she is over weight, she weighs agout 15 pounds and should weight 8-10. The other proglem is that she has a really gad odor at times coming from (so we are geing told, her "anal gland". Sometimes we call her "Stink Butt". We would like to know if this treatagle - surgery, etc.. We are also wanting to get another of the same breed. Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. Please let us know what you can find out about
this.

Thank you very much.

I think that rescue is GREAT!!! I have a rescue dalmatian that was a TDI therapy dog and visited hospitals, then started agility. She was ranked in the top 10 dalmatians in agility (including highly bred dogs) in AKC for 3 years, and was invited to the AKC Invitational in CA for 2 years in a row. Rescues are and can be great dogs.

This is remarkable to think a dog's life doesn't end in a shelter but can travel to a new home across the US. I would love to volunteer doing this.

It was good to read this article about rescue/transport. I've involved myself in the wonderful endeavor of driving dogs to safety for a bit over two years. I've touched base with all who have been mentioned in the article and I've met many more. It has been my great pleasure to have crossed paths and touched hearts with each and every one. Most especially, it has been my extraordinary pleasure to have met all of the dogs along the way, as they rode to the safety of rescue, foster, or forever homes. All lifted my heart and reminded me that life is good when you realize, appreciate, and love a creature. Throughout nearly all of my travels with the dogs, I had a "co-pilot," my daughter Laura. She made the rides sweeter and we both shall pay forward all of the goodness we've come to realize in the world of transporting...the goodness of all of the people we've met and the goodness of all of the beautiful dogs. Transporting is rewarding, uplifting and heartwarming. Every run has been memorable. Every dog has touched our hearts.

As one of the transporters involved in this wonderful article, I would like to personally thank Sue Webb. Great story Sue. Hopefully it encourages others to volunteer. I work 40 hours a week and my weekends are dedicated to transporting. I can't think of a better way to spend my spare time. For me it is truly relaxing and all the frustrations from work, Monday - Friday, just seem to melt away. Transporting has truly been great therapy for me.
