Gloria Old Town, ME 11/22/2011 11:50:32 AM We adopted a dog Miss Rain, I have taken her to classes and worked with her but we still have an issue with other dogs and kids. Our morning walks are a joy we are out before anyone is up 5-5:30AM and it is so enjoyable but the when I get home and we walk she will cry, bark and her nose is on the ground that some nights I just turn her around and go home because she is uncontrolable. She is not home alone Dick is retired and home with her most days. I took her to day care and they sent her home after three weeks because she didn't want to be with other dogs she wanted to be with people and was to needy. Do you have any helpful hints to deal with these issues?
Bobbie Lake Havasu City, AZ 6/12/2011 7:07:58 AM Rescued dogs are not always easy to train. I've always adopted shelter dogs. My current one is a 3-4 yr old Shephard/pit bull (?) mix. Great at home. Loveable. Walking is the problem. She goes crazy when another dog comes near and it takes all my strength to control her. She is attending obedience classes and the trainer as suggested private classes as she is impossible around the other dogs.
Kathy City, MN 7/29/2010 7:53:01 AM So very true, we have several rescues and most of the it is jus the adjustment period that is a little hard and then things are just fine.
Stephanie North Canton, OH 10/1/2009 6:07:49 AM I got my Pomeranian from a rescue shelter-I could not ask for a better dog!
Sue Aurora, IL 8/27/2009 11:13:13 AM I have had 4 dogs - 3 were from shelters. They were all adults (at least 3 years old) and very well-behaved. None of them needed much training - they just needed love and attention. I urge anyone seeking a dog to visit the shelters near them. You will find some amazing companions that someone gave up for reasons you may never be able to figure out!
