Way to go. Love happy endings. But I think you mean Boise Idaho.

Thanks to microchipping another dog found its way home! But why wasn't the dog on a leash?

No matter how well trained the dog is, or what surroundings the dog is in, there's no guarantee that it won't take off when it picks up a scent, hears something, or see something that catches its interest. If the dog likes to run loose, then let it run loose in a fenced-in area such as a back yard or a dog park.

Seriously, save your children the heartbreak and put the frickin' dog on a leash.

One point for being smart enough to microchip her dog. Minus 10 for being dumb enough to have the dog outside off leash, particularly as she proved before to not be reliably trained off leash. :-(
