I must have a very unique chocolate labe. She is 3 years old and has always been very calm. I am a strong believer in obedience training in which she had. She also is a trained bird hunting dog in which she loves. I hope this has helped give the labs a better reputation!

All the working breeds need exercise. It would be unfair to adopt a high energy breed knowing he would get little exercise. There are plenty of long haired furry breeds with less energy
though.
Good luck

as the owner of a 2 yr. old yellow lab that we rescued 8 months ago, i believe that laid back and lab in the same sentence constitutes an oxymoron! labs need tons of exercise as i have recently learned. i am 57, my husband 62, and walking him enough is a challenge. had i known i probably would not have adopted him. but as true dog lovers we all know that when you rescue, the bond that forms is so solid. now he's my baby even though he wears me out. hoping that neutering will help. he had heartworm when we adopted so had to put off neutering until tested negative.
