Galadriel Lothlorien, ME 7/21/2010 10:28:38 PM I wish the slide shows on DC would work for Macs. I'm sick of not being able to see them.
Margartita WA, WA 7/21/2010 3:15:02 PM Dogs can change and help people. When i first heard about this program I was a soldier in the wound warrior program. I thought at the program sounded great, and it still does. Good moral for the prison also.

brenda williston, FL 7/21/2010 9:09:01 AM I think this is a wonderful program. Good for the dogs and the inmates.
Hallie Sayreville, NJ 7/21/2010 5:57:10 AM I think this is a terriffic program!! It always surprises me how much dogs can do! They can comfort seniors or children and anyone in between. They help the blind. And now the are helping prisnors too. Its amazing.
Timber Salt Lake City, UT 6/28/2010 11:21:09 PM People and animals deserve a second chance. I think that the Dogs Behind Bars program is one of the best ideas the correctional system has come up with. People serving time can train these "unwanted" dogs so that they can find forever homes. Plus it gives the people behind bars a sense of being needed and it helps those in need in the community. If possible, I think there should be more of these programs in the correctional systems. I would bet that the rate of the inmates coming back into the prison system has declined due to these programs.
Debbie East Lansing, MI 3/20/2010 5:36:29 PM Do prisoners teach dogs to help disabled people? I have been waiting 6 years for a dog from an org. (I will not say which one, though) I just want a dog that I can go on walks with and that will protect me. If you know of any programs, let me know.
Kimberly Goodview, VA 3/18/2010 6:22:42 PM My exhusband works with dogs behind bars though Angel of the. He loves it. My sister is a quard and I have been trying to get her to feel out the form for about a year. I think it would be Great. Robert Fisher at Bland Correctional Center in Bland Virginia has been doing this for about 4 years now. He loves the dogs he trains and as learned alot. He tells the kids about all the tricks and thinkgs they can do. He states when he gets out he is going to continue.

Darlene Jerseyside, CA 3/17/2010 4:34:30 PM Animals bring out the best in people, they teach us compassion and the world can learn from them.I beleive this is a wonderful program for animals and mankind. What is the success rate out of the program-would love to know more
Dolores Pompano Beach, FL 3/17/2010 4:24:58 PM This is absolutely a positive training program for inmates. Teaching inmates the responsibility for caring for another, training the pet, receiving love and companionship, can only better the human. Please let's make this an option for all felons.
Brittany Appleton, WI 3/17/2010 2:10:02 PM I belive this to be a great program for both parties and hope that we will continue to grow this progam in all jails and prisions.
kathy jersey shore, NJ 3/17/2010 1:05:08 PM Great program for everyone involved. They both have someone to love
Yvonne Pekin, IL 3/17/2010 12:07:50 PM I think this is a GREAT idea for both sides (dogs and inmates). I really see no downside if the dogs are watched to be sure they are not abused.
Connie Charleston, SC 3/16/2010 10:57:02 AM I know it is a great way to benefit both parties in involved, dogs and inmates. My dog Molly was one of those dogs. She was trained by the inmates in Eastern Correctional Facility in Maury NC. They are doing a great job with the dogs I visited the facility to meet Molly and her trainers and returned for her Graduation. Now illy is a Registered Therapy Dog spreading hope and smiles. She continued Obedience and Rally classes with me and now she is competing in Agility. We just got our first title and we will continue to compete. She loves competing in a Agility. I would like to thank the prison system for allowing the program and giving in return great affectionate companions.
