Penny Bonney LAke, WA 2/9/2010 11:20:18 AM I called my Merrick Rep. The treats were recalled because of their concerns with Humans. The concern was humans "may" be subject to Salmonella, due to improper handling. The treats were no threat to to your pets.
Meri Windham, NH 2/6/2010 4:57:39 AM I bought a bag of these treats for my dog well before Christmas and have fed them to her w/ no problem, w/ only a little left in the bag. I cannot find the "use by" date, so it must have been on the tear off strip. Thanks for getting the word out-hadn't seen this notice elsewhere.
joel irving, TX 2/5/2010 7:16:52 PM i purchased merrick "bite sized lamb training treats". best by 612011. should i be concerned about this recall. joel jeol@riverwalkvr.com
Cynthia Carlsbad, NM 2/5/2010 3:03:55 PM Thank you for the information. I seen these treats and almost brought them. Thanks so much. You just saved my little girl.
Emiy Barneveld, WI 2/5/2010 1:30:37 PM Thanks for the warning, I don't feed my any treats due to fact I have my six fur babies on a raw diet and beef shank bones for cleansing there mouth, teeth and gums and they are happy clams. I give them top of the line dry kibbles from called EVO and supplement their diets with the raw bones and enzyme and probiotic powder. Solved all my health issues in my bichon and four doxies and a chi. I will pass this along to my other dog loving friends.
Tally Wonder Lake, IL 2/5/2010 12:55:14 PM I guess i'm glad my girls are Diva's and only have their fav treats. I'm from Illinois, is there a list of stores that carried these treats. This story will be forwarded to all my friends.
k9tootr Salinas, CA 2/5/2010 10:56:54 AM How wonderful that a company steps up to the plate and takes action on something that might be! They have put themselves at risk because people will view them as a "bad" company. They carry great products and I will continue to use/sell them. My clients call the beef filets and lamb filets "doggie crack"!
Sheryl Seguin, TX 2/5/2010 10:37:31 AM I would say the fact that no animal has been known to have become ill from these treats speaks well of Merrick. :) Lets just hope and pray they don't have a second strike. ...but for now, I will continue to use their product. JMHO
Veda Tonawanda, NY 2/5/2010 10:29:42 AM I have copied this article and will send it on to other dog lovers! Thanks so much!
Hope Omaha, NE 2/5/2010 10:20:51 AM Merrick offers fantastic products, it's unfortunate they have had to recall one. I will still continue to use Merrick. My dogs love the Texas Taffy and the Texas Toothpicks. They are their favorites.
Sommer Amarillo, TX 1/15/2010 1:10:49 PM The voluntary withdrawal was only on lot number –“ 09323 best buy 111911”. There were only 84 retailers that may have received the product. The retail stores have been notified and if the retailer had this lot then the product was pulled. There are only 17 cases that have not been recovered.
