Stephanie McMinnville, OR 1/20/2010 9:06:37 PM You are responding to this situation with only half the information. No school district (due to very strict privacy laws) can provide the public with the full story. Please do not assume that schools are "biased" about mental disabilities. My 30-year career in education included being a teacher of Emotionally Disturbed children, a school counselor, Director of Special Services and elementary principal. Please think about it: would a teacher or school district want a child to fail? Would they want to deal with disruptive and unsafe behavior if it could easily be avoided? Of course not. There is obviously much more to this story and I think it regrettable the school district comes off as the bad guy because they are unable to speak out.
