Carol Silver Spring, MD 1/26/2011 1:09:21 PM As a hospital administrator I have witnessed the pleasure, diversion and mental stimulation that therapy animals bring. I encourage anyone who is interested to participate in the training.
Cyndi Klamath Falls, OR 1/26/2011 11:22:01 AM I enjoyed the article. I have two therapy dogs. The training and going out to facitities is a wonderful way to spend time with your fur kids. Your also making people happy by sharing your time and your dog with them. It's very rewarding. I have the Therapy/Service Dog Society page #57703 here on the DC. There are lots of theapy dogs on the DC.
Kiki Naperville, IL 1/26/2011 9:36:09 AM This is wonderful information. However, as far as getting the clean bill of health goes, of course get it before you enter hospitals, etc., but you may want to consider getting a clean bill of health before starting training as well to be certain that any irritability/fear/aggression is not caused by the animal being in pain or discomfort.
Amee Keene, NH 1/5/2011 5:32:13 PM Too bad you didn't include information about the third major national therapy dog registry--Therapy Dogs, Inc. (www.therapydogs.com)
