Hi, I'm Mac from Taguig City Philippines. We have a 7 months old Shar-Pei we really don't know if he has a Swollen Hock Syndrome. March 14 2016 we went outside to have a daily walk together with Wacky (Shar-pei) and the other dog that i have Tammy (Half Shar-pei/Golden retriever). around 10:30-11:00 am, when we got home, I saw Wacky (Shar-pei) lying on the floor and kinda crying, hard to stand up and he's getting angry if i will hold his rear leg then eventually back normal. On the next day same routine but he fell down on the floor when we are still outside, and the next day afternoon kinda dizzy while walking going back to our house then again eventually go back to normal up until April 10 2016 yesterday. Last night my wife notice that Wacky fells the same thing and he is limping already. When got home this morning i saw he's right rear leg is swollen. I'm hoping this is not Swollen Hock Syndrome, because i'm not sure if there's a vet that will help us here in the Philippines. Please help us.

I have had this breed for the past 30 years. A good site for health information is Dr. Vidt specializes in Shar Pei illness. In order to help prevent swollen hock Shar Pei need to be on Colcrys, a human medication, which is supposed to alleviate and/or lessen attacks. Go to Dr. Vidt's site for more information.

Hi our shar pei joe used to do this when we first had him I read on a site it was because of the amount of time between meals so in the morning he has a few lumps of food and a usual meal lunch time and dinner time cured no issues since
