John Bain Gainesville, FL 9/22/2012 9:28:53 AM Haven't tried either the Thundershirt or the Anxiety Wrap yet but the Wrap supposedly has an anti-static material built in that is said to help quiet the dog along with the gentle pressure it applies. Thundershirt doesn't have an anti-static property, just the pressure. Dr. Nicholas Dodman of Tufts actually mentions in a couple of his books that the Anxiety Wrap was found to be effective, just as Dbqdogtrainer stated. I've heard mixed opinions on the TS from a few who've tried it, and from some retail-worker friends of mine. Will be trying the AW for my Carolina Dog who's not crazy about the Florida thunderstorm season and let you know.
Dbqdogtrainer Dubuque, IA 7/3/2012 2:43:21 PM Readers should know that the "studies" referred to in this article that show that the Thundershirt is effective in "over 80%" of dogs is really just customer surveys taken by the Thundershirt Company itself. On the other hand, the Anxiety Wrap, the original and only patented pressure wrap was actually evaluated in a clinical research study at the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and found to be effective in 89% of study participants. In my own professional practice I have found the Anxiety Wrap to be consistently effective for a wide range of anxiety disorders.
