Laurel Charleston, SC 5/10/2008 7:28:22 PM Okay...if 13 million was a gift...why can't they build a 13 million dollar facility and use the remaining funds raised to actually go towards the existing Animal Care Shelter Crisis? I think it is great, but $29 million to build, then to pay people to work it...advertise...etc...how much money actually goes to help save a life? Well, it's already underway..so no use crying over spilt...money. I personally think that there should be government subsidizing to let all Responsible Pet Owners get their animals spayed and Neutered for free, or at low cost. The Gov should "earmark" some funds (they fund all kinds of wacky stuff anyway) to pay Veterinarians to preform the surgeries as needed. Am I going to hold my breath to see that one. NOPE. Does it make sense? I really think it does. I read that an Airline saved millions of dollars a year just by cutting out the "olives" from their in-flight, gourmet meals. Millions!!! How is it that we can't get help to solve the unwanted Pet Population explosion.
