She has designed wigs for style icons like Judy Garland, Heidi Klum, and Elvis Presley. Now Ruth Regina is turning her sights to another hound dog – your pet.
The Hollywood hairstyling legend, who also helped to coif the Beatles for their famous “Ed Sullivan Show” appearance, has created Wiggles, a line of wigs and hair extensions for dogs.
“When I saw dogs in tiaras and opera clothes and workout clothes and jewelry being carried around in $7,000 alligator bags and Chanels, I said, ‘Oh, why not a wig for a dog?’” Regina told the New York Daily News.
Regina’s line, which is named for her Yorkshire Terrier Wiggles, evokes old Hollywood glamour. Pieces include the cherubic “Doll Face” and “Shirley Temple” ringlets to more modern styles like the “Posh Spice” and the dreadlocked “Marley.”
“A woman’s hair is her crowning glory,” Regina says. “If a dog has all the other accessories, why not top it off with a beautiful hairpiece?”
Wiggles dog hairpieces range from $24.95 to $29.95. For more information, visit www.wigglesdogwigs.com.
