The ABCs of Dog Agility Associations

Don’t get lost in the alphabet soup. Here are North America’s agility associations and the titles they offer.

Maryanne Dell

American Kennel Club (www.akc.org). Novice, Open and Excellent titles are earned in Standard competition and Jumpers with Weaves. Top competitors earn a MACH (Master Agility Champion).

Australian Shepherd Club of America (www.asca.org). Novice, Open and Elite titles are earned in Standard, Gamblers and Jumpers. Top competitors earn an ATCH (Agility Trial Champion).

Canine Performance Events (www.k9cpe.com). Titles are earned in Standard, Handler, Strategy and Fun categories in levels 1 through 4, C-ATCH (CPE Agility Team Champion) and C-ATE (CPE Agility Team Extraordinaire).

North American Dog Agility Council (www.nadac.com). Novice, Open and Elite titles are earned in Standard, Chances, Hoopers, Jumpers, Tunnelers, Touch N Go and Weavers. Top teams earn NATCH (NADAC Agility Trial Champion) and Vers-NATCH (NADAC Versatility Champion) titles.

United Kennel Club (www.ukcdogs.com). Titles are United Agility I and United Agility II. Champions earn a UACH (United Agility Champion), UACHX (United Agility Championship Excellent) and ¬UGRACH (United Grand Agility Champion) titles.

United States Dog Agility Association (www.usdaa.com). Novice, Advanced and Masters titles are earned in Standard, Gamblers, Jumpers, Relay and Snooker. Top competitors earn an ADCH (Agility Dog Champion).

Teacup Dogs Agility Association (www.k9tdaa.com). Standard titles are offered at Beginner, Intermediate, Superior and Master levels. Games titles are earned at levels 1, 2, 3 and Master. Champions earn a TACh (Teacup Agile Dog Champion).  Novice, Open and Excellent titles are earned in Standard competition and Jumpers with Weaves. Top competitors earn a MACH (Master Agility Champion).
