Your dog can't tell you he hurts, so it's up to you to recognize the signals he does send. Stay alert to the following signs:
- Reluctance to get up or lie down
- Crying out when moving, or when touched on rear end
- Decreased appetite
- Salivation or standing over the food bowl without eating (an indication of dental pain)
- Unexplained growling or aggression
- Tail tucked under body
