6 Signs of Pain

Your dog can't tell you he hurts, so it's up to you to recognize the signals he does send. Stay alert to the following signs:

  • Reluctance to get up or lie down

  • Crying out when moving, or when touched on rear end

  • Decreased appetite

  • Salivation or standing over the food bowl without eating (an indication of dental pain)

  • Unexplained growling or aggression

  • Tail tucked under body
