It is important to recognize potential problem behaviors before they become serious. Here are some behaviors that may indicate a need for training, socialization, or veterinary treatment. Be aware, though, that many of these behaviors are exhibited at certain times by most dogs. They become worrisome when they are exhibited often, at inappropriate times, or in combination with other inappropriate or aggressive behaviors.

  • Aggressive barking
  • Begging
  • Biting
  • Digging
  • Chasing people or other dogs
  • Chewing or destroying things
  • Escaping
  • Grabbing things
  • Growling
  • Guarding food or toys
  • Herding people or other animals
  • Inching closer when commanded to stay
  • Jumping up
  • Lip curling
  • Lunging at other dogs
  • Lying on top of people
  • Mouthing
  • Nipping
  • Playing keep away
  • Playing tug-of-war with leash
  • Pulling on leash
  • Pushing between people or other animals for attention
  • Repeatedly fetching after playtime has ended
  • Repeatedly pushing rear end against person for scratching
  • Running away when called
  • Snapping
  • Snarling
  • Showing teeth
  • Staring
  • Taking food from the table or counter
  • Tugging or nipping clothing
  • Urinating on bed
  • Urinating or defecating in house
  • Whining

I think it is good to inform people about what to expect but you could also maybe say a little something on how to manage the behavior not a lot of dog owners can pay for a trainer. They may be strapped for cash at the moment and need some advice to handle it until the can get a trainer.
