How to Create a Dog Disaster Kit

DogChannel shows you how to assemble a disaster kit for your dog.

Include the following items in a sturdy container and store in an easy-to-access location next to your canine first-aid kit.
  • Leash and collar or harness.
  • Several bottles of water.
  • Collapsible bowl.
  • Several-day supply of food and treats, plus information on eating habits and food allergies.
  • Medication in a waterproof container, with information on dosage and frequency.
  • Cleanup supplies (plastic bags, paper towels, and chlorine bleach).
  • Copies of important veterinary records (vaccination records and information on existing medical conditions).
  • Copies of registration information (adoption papers, proof of purchase, microchip, or other identification information).
  • List of emergency contacts (friends or relatives, veterinarian's contact information, and listings of nearby pet-friendly hotels).
  • Recent photographs of you and your dog with her breed, age, sex, and color written on the back.
  • Duplicate of a toy she enjoys.

I ended up purchasing the kits from http://www.petsready. com/preparedness-kits-c-2- 8.html

Got one Standard for my dog and one customized for my cat. Total damage under $100 for both. Cant beat that with a stick.

Everyone should have a disaster kit prepared for their cats and dogs, as well as for themselves.
Keep it by the front door or whatever door is most likely to be used for exit in event of a disaster.
keep food, water and medication refreshed every 4-6 months.
Since my dog has hair and not fur and can get cold easily, I would opt to put a light weight but warm blanket in the kit as well.
Bless Us All.

I was unable to view the "webisode". Nice idea, but even better when it works! This is the 2nd one I tried and could not view either one. Is there something I'm missing?
