Elegant evenings: For a cocktail function, select Lulu Jane's Dance Card Pet Carrier in black satin microfiber with ivory bow, charms, and available matching purse.
For men, too: Need a manly bag? How about a black-and-white Sporta Cane? Zippers make it handy, and you can store necessities under the rigid, washable floor insert.
Travel lightly: Nothing beats a Sherpa for air travel. I like the Legacy in a black, cream, and caramel houndstooth pattern. A roomy interior and great ventilation allow your dog to travel in comfort and style.
But don't tote your dog absolutely everywhere. Tamar Gellar, celebrity dog trainer and owner of The Loved Dog, a boarding kennel and dog training facility, cautions pet owners against overusing dog carriers.
"Dogs need to experience the world not only from unnatural carrier heights, but from their normal perspective of being low to the ground," Gellar says. "Dogs who never walk on their own four pampered paws can become fearful, aggressive, or territorial."
Remember, dog carriers are a lot like shoes. You can purchase one to wear with many different looks, or you can buy a few to match your moods and outfits.
You want to look great, of course, but all dogs need a comfortable fit to look stylish and feel just right.
