Pampered Dog Lifestyles

From Yorkshire Terriers to Great Danes, dogs throughout the country are experiencing a boon of unprecedented pampering.

Putting on the glitz
Once the house is decorated, every doggie needs an outfit for the housewarming party.

Many pet boutiques sell high-end dog clothing, but not all dogs have their own clothing line. Beth Kramer of New York started a line of duds for her super-spoiled Yorkie, Petey.

Along with an outfit for every occasion, Petey also enjoys serious spoiling:  Kramer wipes his feet with baby wipes after each walk when he's not wearing his custom-made knit socks in the wintertime, of course.

The world of spoiled dogs doesn't exclude the average dog — there are faux designer carrying bags and plenty of rhinestone collars to go around. Ultimately, however, the most spoiled dog is the one who's well-loved, well-cared for, and hugged every day — although a little raw, chopped beef tenderloin with boiled, sliced baby carrots can't hurt.

Traveling in Style

Many countries in Europe are a dog lover's paradise, where Fido and Fifi can visit restaurants, shops and just about anywhere else.

New Yorker Rosalee Schwartz travels all over Europe with her four Yorkshire Terriers and gets a lot of attention, especially when they're dressed to the nines in their doggie boots and matching dancing outfits.

People with bite-sized dogs can travel easily, but what do you do when your dog is nearly bigger than you?

Craig Schlossberg had a custom crate built for Disco, his 115-pound Great Dane, because no commercial crates were big enough. He even hired a dog moving company to help him move her. At 45 inches high, the crate is 10 inches taller than the largest commercial dog crate, and 2 inches shorter than the loading door on a Boeing 747.

Schlossberg stays at a beach house every summer, and he uses a dog shipping service to transport Disco via airline cargo. "Those are two of the most stressful days of my life going and coming back," he says.
