On Saturday, January 19, 2013, R. William Taylor was awarded The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his lifetime commitment to purebred dogs. He is pictured receiving the award from the Member of Parliament for Beauharnois-Salaberry, Anne Minh Thu Quach, at a ceremony held in Valleyfield, Quebec.
According to the Governor General of Canada, His Excellency The Right Honourable David Johnston, "A new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honor significant contributions and achievements by Canadians."
Together with his late partner Nigel Aubrey-Jones, Bill Taylor established the St. Aubrey-Elsdon Pekingese and over many decades brought them to worldwide prominence as top winners and producers. Bill is admired throughout the world as a knowledgeable all-breed judge, and his towering presence in the show ring will be missed as he retires.
