Italian Greyhound DOG PROFILE

The smallest of the sighthound breeds, the Italian Greyhound probably originated in Greece and Turkey some 2,000 years ago. An elegant toy breed measuring 13 to 15 inches at the shoulder, the Italian Greyhound is slender and graceful. The breed fits into the smallest accommodations, makes a devoted pet and needs little grooming, with weekly brushing keeping the short, fine coat soft and glossy. The coat comes in shades of black, fawn, cream and blue. The little dogs are true hounds and enjoy outdoor exercise just as much as indoor luxury and comfort. Because they are so small and can be easily injured, they're best suited to families with adults or older children. Broken legs can be an issue in this breed so provide ottomans and discourage your IG from jumping on and off furniture.
