Part of keeping your dog healthy is knowing what to look for. Loss of appetite, increased thirst and abnormal behavior are some of the signs of ill health. Consult your veterinarian if your dog exhibits any of the following signs:


  1. Abnormal discharges from body orifices such as the nose, ears or genitals

  2. Abnormal lumps

  3. Change in behavior

  4. Dandruff, loss of hair, open sores or a ragged or dull coat

  5. Difficult, abnormal or uncontrolled waste elimination

  6. Excessive head shaking

  7. Foul breath or excessive tartar deposits on teeth

  8. Increased water intake

  9. Lack of appetite

  10. Limping or difficulty getting up or lying down

  11. Noticeable weight gain or loss

  12. Scratching, licking or biting any part of the body

Seriously don't wait too long if any of these symptoms occur. If they persist after a couple days, please visit your vet.

My dog is scratching under his left front shoulder, vomitted, and is breathing heavy. This all took place in less than two hours.
