Teach Your Dog to Play
Helpful tips to teach your dog to enjoy playing.
Jean M. Fogle
Pain and stiffness can hamper playfulness, so if your dog isn't playing as much as usual, schedule a visit to the veterinarian.
Make sure you really are enjoying the play yourself. If you are just going through the motions, your dog will know.
Add treats. Good-smelling tidbits can get your dog interested in fetch or tug objects.
For a small or medium-sized dog, get down on her level. Being on your hands and knees can make your motions look less threatening and more like play.
