Your Rare Breed Puppy

Some puppies that are considered rare breeds are quite popular as pets.

Brought to you by Training your Puppy in 5 Minutes

Aside from the breeds classified in the seven AKC groups, there are many rare breeds known in the US and around the world. In fact, some of the breeds that are considered rare breeds are quite popular as pets, with devoted followings. Of course, these breeds do not fall into one category, and it is impossible to make generalizations about them. However, when researching breeds, you may find a rare-breed gem that's perfect for you and your lifestyle.

Weare very fortunate to have gotten a
carolina dog who is now 9 months old. She is an excellent guard dog as well as a loving & smart additional to our family.

I had a wonderful blue tick coonhound as a pet. Unfortunately she acquired Cushing's Disease and experienced personality changes. She was in a home with a beagle and a foxhound, my houndgroup. All was well for ten years. Once she displayed symptoms of Cushings, she also became very aggressive towards her pack mates. Eventually she killed my beagle and attempted to do the same with my foxhound. We attempted to control the situation, but alas came to the HORRIBLE point of having to put her down. My vet claimed that her Cushing's Disease was caused by a pituitary tumor, which they say is a brain tumor. They believe that was the cause of her personality trouble and the killing of my other dogs. This occurred in May 2008 and neesddless to say, I am NOT over it. If anyone out there can tell me what went wrong pleasae let me know. I loved my coonhound ...she was the joy of my life, yes I had to put her down in order to save my foxhound.

I have a Rat Terrier (rare breed) but it's a very popular dog. It's a great sweet dog, with basically no inherent diseases. Which I find to be great. Most other breeds have many birth defects.
