Training Overview: The Boxer Puppy

Keep these six tips to keep in mind when training the Boxer puppy.

Boxer Puppy1. The Boxer is a pack animal, like all other dogs, and needs a leader to guide and instruct him.

2. Positive reinforcement is the best way to train any dog, especially one as sensitive as the Boxer.

3. Know the basic rules of puppy classes: You are alpha and your dog doesn't speak English.

4. Teach word association, timing and consistency.

5. Learn the seven rules to successful puppy training.

6. Play games with your puppy to help him learn to come when called.

I just read these tips and of all the places I have surfed today, this site had the best free advice, plus, it really seems to be working with Baracuda my 10 week old female boxer. Thanks for the good tips and I will be staying tuned to your site in the future. Thanks again!

Another good game I have taught my boxer pup, Ozzy, is "Touch which One." They use their paws so much it's easy. First teach them touch, by holding something(treat, fave toy) and say touch. When they use there paw to touch,, reward. It takes no time for a boxer. Then hide a treat in one fist, present both, and let them smell, say touch which one. when they touch with paw, reward.
