  • Using treats and positive reinforcement is the best way to train any dog, especially one as sensitive as the Weimaraner.
  • Know the basic rules of puppy classes: You are alpha, and you have to learn to speak dog.
  • Teach word association, timing and consistency.
  • Learn the basic principles of successful puppy training.
  • Play games with your puppy to help him learn to come when called.

@Diane - 13 weeks is not very old at all, your puppy is still a baby and you'll have plenty of time to train him. Give your puppy some time to get acclimated to his new home and new name. It's great to start puppy training to get your dog used to listening and learning, but don't expect your little guy to know what to do right away. With any puppy it takes time. Good luck with your new puppy!

I recently got a pup that was already 13 weeks old. He seems so hard to even learn his name. The man had 2 left and admitted he has not messed with this litter at all. Will I be able to train him?
