1. Socialization and teaching the house rules begin right away. These lead to a well-behaved, confident dog who's a pleasure to be around.
2. Choose a name for your pup and use it often so that he learns that you're talking to him when you use it.
3. Games with the puppy help nurture his bond with you and introduce commands in the course of fun.
4. Travel safety is important; the best way for a dog to travel in the car is in his crate.
