If you have boisterous children in the family, then yours is probably not the right type of household for a Chihuahua. If you live alone and can spend most of your time doting on your pet, you are just the right owner. Some say that Chihuahuas are not dogs at all, but "four-legged babies." Now, what better baby could you possibly want? And if you decide to enlarge your family, why not just add another Chihuahua? That makes sense to me!
You will be able to keep yourself busy with a little "hairdressing" from time to time. Apart from regular grooming, a Chihuahua usually needs a bath about once a month, and the long-coated variety can certainly have one more frequently. This is a fun activity. You'll love it!
Lastly, if you are one of the sun-worshipers of the human species, you will have a willing canine companion to share your pleasure. There may not be enough sunshine in your yard for you to sit out, but if there is even the tiniest ray, you can be sure your Chihuahua will find it. Just take care that neither of you gets sunburn or sunstroke!
In short, your Chihuahua will give you oodles of love and attention, and you will only be the right owner if you are prepared to give just as much in return.
