1. 
Consider all of the breeds traits before deciding that the Springer is for you. This is an active, athletic, people-loving breed who makes a good home companion if given the proper amount of exercise.
2. The Springer can be a very oral breed, remembering his instincts to carry shot birds to the hunter, so proper chewing habits must be instilled from puppyhood.
3. Be prepared to devote some time to grooming and know that the Springer will shed at least lightly all year round.
4. The Springer can be trained for a range of activities and loves to do things with his owners; he is good with children and generally has a lot to offer his family.
