I loved the article, very informative & warm!
We have a Shih Tzu who is ten years old now & he is absolutely adorable. I am constantly surprised that Shih Tzus are thought by breeding circles to be one of the least intelligent breeds - I would have said they were the opposite. They are extremely intelligent - our dog can amaze me with just one look as he communicates with his eyes both positive and negative emotions. For example, when he is unhappy with one of us, if looks can kill I tell you!! He also tells us what he wants by barking in a certain way.
Unlike the so called 'brighter' dogs, Shih Tzu's do not blindly obey. They, as you say, use their own initiative and are incredibly perceptive and empathic to their human companions.
What would we do without our dogs?!!! xx
