This is strictly wonderful, said David Helming, who with his wife, Peggy, won the Outstanding Breeder award. Were humbled by the competition, he added. Pouch Cove Newfoundlands has bred and/or owned approximately 300 champions since 1966.
Before turning to judging, Judge of the Year Michele L. Billings was a breeder of German Shepherd Dogs and Beagles, and then enjoyed a long and successful career as an all-breed professional handler. I love you and I thank you for your rousing support, she said.
Del Valle Dog Club of Livermore claimed the Winkie for Show of the Year. Held in October in Pleasanton, Calif., the show attracts dozens of specialties, as well as a large all-breed entry. Longtime club officer Betty-Anne Stenmark accepted for the show and thanked every exhibitor who has schlepped his dog to be in our dog show.
