Pluis Davern clearly loves the breed and has some very adamant opinions about them. When asked how she feels about people who dedicate their lives to breeding conformation Sporting dogs without ever considering the field aspects of the breed she says, "I think it's a great tragedy for the dogs, and absolutely a great tragedy for the breeder and the breeding program. I think about all those years that I spent in Goldens doing obedience, and we had such a great time, but there was never that feeling that you get when you're walking in the field and they come back and tell you what a great time they've had. They don't do that in obedience. They do things with you and for you, but in the field, they love it like nothing else. I always feel privileged that they allow me to come behind them and watch them, and I think of what they do for me in the show ring and that I am beholding, morally, to do for them in the field. I feel very strongly about that."
