Well-mannered, handsome, compassionate — what’s not to like about this British beau?
“I’m walking the dog,” the 4-year-old girl squealed. “I’m walking the dog!” Her excitement bubbled up after watching her siblings take turns holding English Setter Dori’s leash. Breeder Janet G. was hesitant to put the little child at the end of the 4-year-old dog’s long line. But Janet needn’t have worried. “I’ve heard story after story about how good they are with children,” she says. “They’re so gentle.”
The English Setter gets an A+ when it comes to interacting with children. Many bigger dogs plow through small children, while numerous small breeds tend to bite when frightened by kids’ sudden movements and noise. The English Setter will do neither.
